South Tyrol is known for its tasty and traditional cuisine. Many South Tyrolean specialities originate in the Puster Valley. At times when most people were still employed in agriculture and on their own farms, numerous traditional dishes were developed. Later on, these recipes were handed down from generation to generation and are still very popular amongst young and old people. In the Casies Valley you can taste Tirtlan (filled dough), Krapfen (doughnuts) or Ingsaante Niggelen (poppy seed doughnuts) - don't miss out on this pleasure!
